EXPECTATIONS MET?September 18, 2010 11:44 pm
Well the Memphis Tigers have met CBS prognosticaters expectations three games into the season. You can not argue with the pundents too much because the schedule is much tougher than previous years, the Tigers have few proven players returning, as well as a head coach who had never won a game. Ha! Coach Porter now has his first victory. Congratulations to Larry Porter. He should be proud to beat a coach who turned down the Memphis and had those CBS prognosticaters thinking MSTU would go 11-1. Sure his topnotch QB was suspended, but he still was favored to win. MSTU started the downward spiral of the Tigers last year and this win was a sweet sweet revenge. Williams at QB wasn't spectacular, but he is the most promising Freshman QB since Danny Wimprine. I am not predicting the Tigers to have a great season, but it should be good enough to get Memphis out of the bottom ten. Tiger Lane is all blue and GRRRRRRRRREAT! GO TIGERS! I just listened to Coach Porter talk about the new coaching staff during the Memphis SMU basketball halftime and I was impressed. Articulate and intelligent just popped up on my mind's billboard. If these coaches are as impressive as Coach Porter described them, then we should be able to compete in C-USA. I decided to get my season tickets today. I believe Porter and his staff were a great hire. He has persuaded me and I believe he will persuade good players to come to Memphis. Highland Hundred Golf Tourney info...vital for football camp! http://www.gotigersgo.com/sports/m- footbl/spec-rel/042709aaa.html Two BIG non-conf games: 9/06/09 vs. Ole Miss and 11/07/09 vs. Tennessee Granted, Ole Miss is currently ranked 14th in the AP Poll, 15th in USA Today Poll; however, the manner in which we play them and the lessons we take and apply could very well make this one of the best seasons ever. Coach West seems pleased with his defense now, and he's fine-tuning his offense (namely the O-Line reaction). I'm interested to see what Tiger Football yields this fall. LET'S GO TIGERS!!! Interesting, offense was decent defense seemed better. Fairly even scrimage. No really big mistakes either way. One of my concerns is some of the offensive plays were slow to develope.
